Geoffrey Moull is the director of The University of Western Ontario's orchestral ensembles and brings a wealth of performing experience to the Don Wright Faculty of Music.
He was Music Director of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra from 2000 to 2009. Under his leadership, the TBSO became one of Canada's leading professional regional orchestras and a regular feature on CBC Radio. Their CD-recording Variations on a Memory was nominated for a Juno Award. From 1992 to 2000, he was Principal Conductor of the Bielefeld Philharmonic Orchestra and Bielefeld Opera in Germany and an integral part of what came to be known as the 'Bielefelder Opernwunder.' Many of his performances were received with international critical acclaim; two were recorded: Louis Spohr's Faust and Theo Loevendie's Esmée.
Geoffrey Moull's conducting career has included performances with such renowned ensembles as the Southwest German Radio Orchestra, the State Opera Hannover, the Comic Opera Berlin, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the German Rhine Opera, the Metz Opera, the CBC Vancouver Radio Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
Throughout his career Geoffrey Moull has always been a dedicated teacher. He was Music Director of the University of Münster Symphony Orchestra, mentor of the Opera Program of Wilfrid Laurier University, guest conductor of the McGill University Symphony Orchestra and gave master classes at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. In 2010, he was appointed visiting professor at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Germany.
Geoffrey Moull conducts the UWO Symphony Orchestra and the UWO Chamber Orchestra, leads the UWOpera productions, and teaches graduate instrumental conducting.
