Appearances across North America, in the Caribbean, in Great Britain, and in Europe as a performer, teacher, conductor, adjudicator, lecturer, musicologist, historical consultant, and workshop clinician have highlighted Henry Meredith's active international career. He holds three degrees with high distinction from the Indiana University School of Music (1968-1970) including a Specialist Diploma in Multiple Arts, plus a doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado, where his dissertation on the first printed trumpet tutor and earliest collection of trumpet solo repertoire (Girolamo Fantini, 1638) garnered Henry Meredith the UNC 1984 Citation for Excellence.

Utilizing his personal collection of over 4500 musical instruments, Dr. Meredith specializes in authentic performances of early music, from renaissance to ragtime. Part of this magnificent collection has been featured, by special invitation, in formal museum exhibitions both in the USA (New Hampshire and Virginia) and in Canada. "The Bands of Time: Two Centuries of Instrumental Music in Canada" was mounted at Museum London (June 1999 to April 2000) exclusively to spotlight some of Henry Meredith's historical instruments and materials. In 2002, "Dr. Hank" served on location as the first ever Period Instrument Consultant in the movie industry, facilitating the Disney movie remake of "The Music Man" (starring Matthew Broderick, Kristen Chenoweth, and Victor Garber), which aired on ABC in February 2003 and is now available on DVD. All of the band instruments employed in the film were supplied from the Henry Meredith Collection! Henry has also served as a performer and guest expert on CBC, CTV, plus many other national and international televison and radio broadcasts. A consultant to various music festivals and special events, he continues to advise music educators, performers, museums, collectors, and research scholars world-wide, on musical matters of a pedagogical, instrumental, or historical nature.

The artistic director of annual historical concerts presented since 1987 by L'Harmonie Universelle Ancienne, Dr. Hank also leads Southwestern Ontario's popular Plumbing Factory Brass Band, founded in 1995. The ensemble was the 2008 recipient of the Jack Richardson Music Awards Best Classical Group trophy. As principal trumpeter of, and soloist with, several orchestras, chamber orchestras, and brass ensembles in London, Hamilton, Toronto, and in several USA cities, Henry has been featured on their concert series, their broadcasts, and their commercially released recordings (including Handel's Messiah with the Texas Baroque Ensemble and with the London Concert Players Orchestra, An Amabile Festival, Te Deum Orchestra Gala, and several programs with the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Bands). Among other international ensembles with whom Dr. Meredith has performed are the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, Tafelmusik, Ebenthal Austria Sommer-Akademie Baroque Orchestra, Clarino e Canto, Dodworth Saxhorn Band, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Saxton's Cornet Band, Victoriana Ensemble, Heritage Americana, The Yankee Brass Band, and The Queen's Quadrille & Quickstep Society Orchestra. Frequently engaged as a brass soloist playing on both modern and antique instruments, he remains in steady demand as a guest conductor and clinician, gives instrumental workshops and master classes at high schools and universities, and adjudicates music festivals, in major centres across Canada, the USA, and the West Indies. Previous university teaching posts have included Wisconsin, Northern Colorado, and Windsor, and he was for many years chief brass instructor for Conservatory Canada.

A noted musicologist, musical editor, author, composer, and arranger, Professor Meredith's published editions and compositions are widely recognized and frequently programmed on concerts and recordings around the world by such artists as Wynton Marsalis and Kathleen Battle. The Encyclopedia of Music in Canada lists Henry Meredith among "brass players and teachers of note," provides a biography, an article about his instrument collection, and entries mentioning many of his ensembles.

At the University of Western Ontario since 1975, Professor Meredith has taught trumpet performance, instrumental music education, conducting, undergraduate and graduate brass instrument performance and pedagogy, music history, and music appreciation. He has directed the UWO Symphonic Band and has guided jazz and brass ensemble programs at the Don Wright Faculty of Music as well as at other universities. Many of his students have achieved prominent playing and teaching positions throughout Canada, in Europe, and in the United States. Dr. Hank's comprehensive experiences enhance his enthusiasm for music of all kinds, which, together with his devotion to teaching, provide him with a unique approach to performing and to sharing, with all age groups, his love for, and knowledge about, music.
