Sandra Mangsen holds a PhD in musicology from Cornell University (1989) as well as the master's degree in performance (harpsichord) from McGill University (1981). As a harpsichordist, she has performed in the United States, Canada, England and Italy. She has recorded cantatas of Buxtehude with Mary Cyr and with the late Allan Fast, and has performed as well with Jaap Schröder (baroque violin) and Betsy MacMillan (viola da gamba). She co-directs Early Music Studio with Richard Semmens (recorder) and Joseph Lanza (baroque violin), and performs occasionally on clavichord or fortepiano in addition to harpsichord.
