Admission to the BMus (Performance) Program
All students in first and second year Applied Music Lessons (1920 and 2920) wishing to become performance majors will do a 10 min. audition of repertoire only (i.e. no technique). Performance auditions will be adjudicated by a panel of two or three jurors, one of which may be the student’s instructor. Repertoire may be repeated from the 1920/2920 jury. To be eligible to enroll in the Honors Performance Program, students must:
- Pass the audition
- Achieve a mark of 70% or above in 1920 or 2920
- Meet all other academic criteria for admission to the Honors Performance program as outlined in the university's Academic Calendar
Students wishing to audition for the Honors Performance program should inform the Secretary of the MPS Department of their intent to audition when they complete their Intent to Register forms in February of each year. Audition dates are posted online here.
The audition results will be posted online, by student number, following the auditions. Since acceptance into the Honors Performance program is dependent upon both passing the audition and meeting the academic requirements for admission to an Honors program, the actual degree program will be determined by adjudication in May.
Admission to the Artist Diploma* and Music Performance Diploma Programs
Auditions will be adjudicated in May by a panel of faculty from the Department of Music Performance Studies. Auditions for both programs will be scheduled at 15-minute intervals. Admission requirements and performance levels are outlined in the Academic Calendar.
Audition requirements for the Music Performance program can be seen here.
