Admission to all Chamber Ensembles is by audition administered by Prof. Starling and Prof. Wiebe. This half course is available for credit to Performance majors in second (2975y), third (3975y), and fourth (4975y) year. 9566y is required for MMus Literature and Performance studying an orchestral instrument. Other students may be accepted into the course by special permission.

Please note: Chamber music repertoire which has been coached or performed on a recital for chamber music credit as part of the chamber ensemble program cannot be used in a student credit recital. Chamber ensembles formed for academic credit are not to be used in solo recitals.

The Chamber Music Board outside MB243 carries procedures regarding ensemble auditions, placement, and assigned coaches.

Sign-up sheets for chamber music 2975y/3975y/4975y/9566y, contemporary techniques 3976y/9507y and collaborative musicianship 4976y/9506y auditions will be posted on the Chamber Music Board on the 2nd floor of the Music Building.
Students must be prepared to audition within the above-mentioned time slots.  If there are more auditionees than the above times can accomodate, an overflow audition time will be scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, September 10, 2011.

Students should prepare two brief contrasting solo pieces.  With the exception of singers, auditionees do not need to bring an accompanist.  A short interview during the audition will aid in determining placement.  Please complete the chamber music/contemporary techniques/collaborative musicianship Request Form and bring it with you to your audition.
